Engaging Education Early

Each child is unique, and therefore will develop at different rates. Children move into our pre-K program based on readiness, not just on age. In addition to abilities, personalities, and temperament, there are many considerations that we factor in when determining when a child will move to the next room. Our program utilizes small and large group instruction to academically prepare our children for kindergarten and beyond. We work socially with our children to play and learn constructively, courteously, and cooperatively. We teach our children to understand, respect, and appreciate their own culture and the cultures of others.

Our program is designed to enhance a child's self-esteem, to stimulate their own sense of creativity, and to feel confident and secure in new situations. Ample recreational playground and free play time are offered. Some of our pre-K learning units during our year include:

  • Self-Concept
  • Safety
  • Stranger Danger
  • Colors
  • Shapes
  • Same/Different
  • Sequencing
  • Rhyming
  • Nutrition
  • Community Helpers
  • Tolerance and Diversity
  • Cutting
  • Letters
  • Numbers
  • Telephone Numbers
  • Addresses

Four-year-olds thrive on positive reinforcement. Children are rewarded with adult praise and a sense of self-pride when they demonstrate outstanding behavior in areas such as leadership, sportsmanship, having a positive attitude, safety, and extra effort. We also offer lots of praise to the children in our efforts to help promote great self-esteem. Our Pre-K program utilizes redirection, distraction, and behavior and word modeling as guidance and discipline methods.

The Educational Program

The educational program for the Care Bears classroom provides many of the same characteristics as the Pre-K 1 (Bunny) classroom with emphasis on language, activity and movement. In addition, the curriculum provides the children with a more in-depth, hands-on literacy component. It is at this age where children are able to begin understanding and learning letters/sounds and their association in words displayed throughout their environment and verbally in their spoken language that will continue to prosper throughout their education at A Magic Kingdom and further.

We also provide an emphasis on developing emotional and social skills by using appropriate expression of emotions by participating in large, small, and individual activities, sharing and problem solving with peers. Pre-K 2 learning units include community helpers, diversity, self-awareness, number, letter and color recognition, nutrition, safety, and many more. It is here where we are able to provide a number of different components to engage our students.
